About Dom
Dom is the Founder and Clinical Director of Ocean Teal Psychotherapy, bringing over a decade of experience working in the fields of trauma, victimization, and mental health. With several years dedicated specifically to trauma therapy, she has developed extensive expertise supporting individuals impacted by complex and life-altering experiences.
Throughout her career, Dom has worked closely with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual's unique needs. Her commitment to supporting victims extends beyond the therapy room, having served as a recognized advocate and spokesperson within the community, helping raise awareness and promote meaningful change for those affected by trauma.
Prior to entering private practice, Dom worked in law enforcement, providing a unique perspective on trauma, victimization, and the challenges individuals often face when navigating systems and seeking support. This experience, combined with formal education in Psychology and Criminology, has shaped a comprehensive understanding of the psychological, biological, and social impacts of trauma.
Dom holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, as well as a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in brain-based therapy, somatic interventions, and neuropsychology, recognizing that trauma affects not only thoughts and emotions but also the nervous system and body. By integrating neuroscience-informed practices with compassionate psychotherapy, Dom helps clients better understand their experiences, build resilience, and create lasting change.
In addition to clinical practice, Dom develops and delivers psychoeducational workshops focused on trauma, the brain, and the lasting impacts of adverse experiences, helping individuals, organizations, and communities deepen their understanding of trauma and recovery.
